When Success Creates Workflow Challenges

A client came to us recently with a classic scaling problem. They handle construction site clearance, managing work orders between contractors and utilities. As the volume grew, their agents became overwhelmed trying to process an increasing flood of job tickets. Each ticket contained potentially valuable information, but more often than not in the form of unstructured text that was difficult and time-consuming for people to parse and act upon.

With a propensity to AI solutions, they wondered aloud whether we could analyze this raw data without compromising quality or adding significant staff. This is exactly the kind of fundamental business problem where AI can make a real difference.

AI-Powered Solution with Privacy Built In

Our solution uses a Large Language Model (LLM) to analyze and classify the text in job tickets, followed by automation routines that can take action based on the identified information. This approach significantly reduces the need for human review while enhancing accuracy.

From Proof-of-Concept to Promising Results

While still in the R&D phase, the results have been beyond the client’s expectations. The system shows great promise to be able to reduce agent time spent reviewing and acting on job tickets, allowing the team to focus on more complex cases that truly require human judgment. There’s still work to be done before the app can be deployed but we are excited about the opportunity it presents. This is AI at its most practical - not replacing humans but making their work more efficient and focused.

This project highlights a broader opportunity: most organizations are sitting on valuable unstructured data that could be helping to improve operations.
