Top-Line Call Outs

  • Faster application cycle launches — Dynamic JsonSchema-driven forms let administrators spin up new grant cycles without developer involvement.
  • Streamlined user management — Clerk integration replaced a custom auth system, cutting the time spent on user provisioning and access control.
  • Modern admin dashboard — A rebuilt admin portal with dynamic tables, inline editing, and role-based security gives managers real-time oversight of every application.

About the Client

BMM is a technology consultancy offering strategic tech services across web applications, CRM, and content creation. In 2012, BMM launched Jump AppSolutions, a powerful web-based Review Management Software designed to manage the full application and review process for grants, fellowships and awards. JUMP handles online applications, references, reviewer assignments, and provides administrative dashboards for oversight all in one secure, integrated system.

The Problem

Over time, the JUMP platform needed a technology refresh. Its legacy stack made maintenance and integration more time-consuming, and the user interface was due for a modern overhaul. BMM turned to Skapa to help re-architect and reimagine the experience for both applicants and administrators.

The Solution

Skapa recommended clean architecture patterns to bring structure and scalability to the API. Here's how we did it:

  • For the User Interface, we implemented React. To facilitate user management, we implemented Clerk; an Identity Management Software as a Service offering. Both applications were applied to create a consistent and modern user experience.
  • A new applicant portal was developed using JsonSchema, enabling flexible, dynamic forms that can be updated and deployed quickly.
  • Following the application portal, an administrative portal was developed using Material UI to give the dashboard components a modern look. The portal uses a Bearer token-based API along with role-based security. A dynamic React table displays all applicant and application data, and editable forms were added to allow managers to update statuses and control the full workflow directly from the dashboard.

The Conclusion
Better User Experience; Faster Workflows

Skapa helped BMM upgrade its JUMP platform with dynamic, maintainable tech built to scale. Today, applicants enjoy a smooth, intuitive submission experience, and administrators can confidently manage complex review workflows in real-time.

By modernizing JUMP's applicant and admin portals, Skapa delivered a faster, more flexible platform that's easier to maintain, simpler to use, and built with scalability in mind.
